Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track & Field Takes Second At Eastbay Invite Posted: Saturday, February 21, 2009 STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team took second place out of 10 teams today at the UW-Stevens Point/Eastbay Invitational. The Blugold men scored 111 points, finishing behind Stevens Point which scored 205. La Crosse took third with 84, Stout was fourth with 74 and Platteville scored 58 points to finish fifth. Carthage College ended up sixth with 42.50 and Carroll University took seventh with 32.50. St. Norbert was eighth with 29, St. Mary's finished ninth with eight points and Concordia scored five points to take 10th. Sam Johnson (Sr.-Deer Park, Wis./Amery) recorded the Blugolds' highest finish of the day with a throw of 18.15 meters (59-6 ?) to take first place in the weight throw. Also in field events, Logan Koerten (So.-Plover, Wis./SPASH) took second in the long jump with a distance of 6.76 meters (22-2 ?) while Nick Desotelle (Sr.-Weston, Wis./Schofield D. C. Everest) was third in the pole vault with a height of 4.66 meters (15-3 ?). The Blugolds also had three second place finishes in the track events and two third place finishes. In the 5,000-meter run, Max Renner (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./East) took second with a time of 15:26.96, less than three seconds behind the winner. The 4x400-meter relay team took second with a time of 3:20.62, while the distance medley relay team was second with a time of 10:06.94. The 4x200-meter relay team had a third place finish with a time of 1:30.98 and Patrick Keyes (So.-Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) was third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.86. Up next the Blugolds will compete in the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships next Saturday and Sunday in Menomonie. - KM - |
