Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Beats Lawrence 7-2 Posted: Saturday, February 21, 2009 APPLETON, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team recorded a 7-2 victory over Lawrence University at the Fox Cities Racquet Club today. The Blugolds improve to 9-4 on the season while Lawrence falls to 1-4. Eau Claire swept doubles competition today and won all but two singles' matches. On the doubles side, Steve Lantz (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) and Phil Loprinzi (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) picked up the 8-4 win in the No. 1 spot while Lars Olson (So.-De Pere, Wis.) and Chris Kuna (Fr.-Edina, Minn.) won at No. 2 8-1. Eric Wollum (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Dirk Van Rybroek (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Edgewood) also picked up an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. Loprinzi allowed only one point as he won in the No. 3 singles spot, defeating Kazunari Kishida 6-1, 6-0. Kuna won the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-4 while Wollum won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Olson also came up on the winning end after a hard-fought battle at No. 2 singles. He defeated Dan Hertel 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 10-7. Up next the Blugolds will face Mankato State and Gustavus Adolphus College next weekend. Eau Claire will take on Mankato on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Gustavus at noon on Saturday. - KM - |
