Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Splits Doubleheader Posted: Friday, February 20, 2009 GREEN BAY, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team found itself on both ends of a shutout today, losing 7-0 to NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin-Green Bay before beating St. Norbert College 9-0 at the Western Racquet Club. With the split, the Blugolds are now 8-4 on the season. The Phoenix picked up their first win of the season, moving to 1-6 while the Green Knights fall to 3-3. Against UWGB, No. 3 singles' Phil Loprinzi (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) pulled off the near upset, losing in three sets to Eric Plushines, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6. Loprinzi bounced back and posted a win against St. Norbert's Derek Harrington 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 match. Facing the Green Knights, the Blugolds won in straight sets in four of the six singles matches. No. 1 seed Steve Lantz (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) and No. 2 seed Lars Olson (So.-De Pere, Wis.) both picked up shutouts in one of their sets. Lantz recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win while Olson picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory. The Blugolds' doubles teams outscored their opponents 24-9 to pick up three wins. Eau Claire will be back on the tennis courts tomorrow against Lawrence University in Oshkosh.
