Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball's Pink Zone Efforts Pay Off Posted: Saturday, February 14, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Last Wednesday the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team hosted a WBCA Pink Zone event and with great support from the community and fans, the Blugolds were able to raise $1,115 for the American Cancer Society.
This was the Blugolds' third consecutive year participating in the Pink Zone event. This year more than 1,500 schools and organizations are participating the the initiative. The WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. In 2008, this initiative, formerly known as "Think Pink," had over 1,100 teams and organizations participating, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research. - KM - |
