Posted: Saturday, November 13, 2004
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team handed St. Olaf their first loss of the year winning 3-2 here today at the Northfield Ice Arena.
The win evens Eau Claire's record at 3-3. The win is the second straight win over the Oles and ninth in the last 10 games.
The Blugolds jumped out to an early lead with a Sean Clark (Jr.-Royal Oak, MI/Brother Rice) power play goal just over four minutes into the game. St. Olaf tied the game at 1-1 with a power play goal of their own.
The Blugolds fell behind 2-1 early in the third period following an Ole goal 1:02 into the period. Ben Manny (Sr.-Chippewa Falls/Chi-Hi) evened the game at two 30 seconds later with his second goal of the season. Rob Ouimette (Sr.-Iron Bridge, ONT/Leamington District) scored his team-best fifth goal two minutes later to give Eau Claire a 3-2 lead and the game's final margin.
Eau Claire will be in action next when they host non-conference opponents Augsburg and Concordia next weekend. The games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 at Hobbs Ice Center.
