Wrestlers Earn Four Wins, Fall To Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team won four matches but fell short by a score of 26-15 at 10th-ranked UW-Stevens Point today.
The Blugolds are now 6-12 overall in dual meets and wrapped up the regular season with a 1-5 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record. Stevens Point improves to 16-3-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in the conference, finishing in third place.
Josh Holforty (Sr.-Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy), who is ranked eighth in the nation at 197 pounds, had the Blugolds' biggest win of the day, defeating his opponent by four points. He defeated Stevens Point's Brandon Jochem 8-4.
Andy Johnston (Jr.-St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and Joe Pitsch (Fr.-Oshkosh, Wis./North) each picked up two-point victories at 149 and 285 pounds, respectively. Johnston defeated Kris Magruder 3-1 while Pitsch won 6-4 over Brett Oswald.
Andy Miller (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) also won by forfeit at 133 pounds for Eau Claire.
The Blugolds will now head to the WIAC Championship next Sunday in Oshkosh. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
