Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Takes Second At The Eastbay Invite Posted: Saturday, February 7, 2009 STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The No. 14 UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team placed second out of 13 teams Saturday at the Eastbay Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point. Of the 18 events that Eau Claire competed in, the Blugolds racked up a total of 129.50 points overall to put them in second place, following the University of Minnesota-Duluth's first place total of 154.50. Winona State took third place with a total of 114.50 while Invite host UW-Stevens Point took fourth with 67 points. The Blugolds had eight different finishers in the top three places. Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.29, edging out the second place finisher by 1.23 seconds. Her time was the fastest this season in NCAA Division III. The women's 4x200 meter relay team took first place as well, finishing with a time of 1:48.71. In the mile run, Mary Palmer (Sr.-Anoka, Minn.) took second place with a time of 5:06.63, with Bethany Easker (So.-Wittenberg, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) following close behind with a time of 5:06.85. In the pole vault event, the Blugolds' Haley Suckow (Jr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) took second place with a distance of 3.35 meters, with Chelsea Becker (Sr.-Rice Lake, Wis.) following with another distance 3.35 meters. Hannah Humbach (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) finished third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.07 while Liz Amici (So.-Whitewater, Wis.) took third place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.77 meters. The Blugold women will start their next competition next Saturday against UW-Platteville in Platteville. The meet is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Invite Results- MT - |
