Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Ready For Two Home Meets Posted: Thursday, February 5, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team will host two meets this weekend in the McPhee Physical Education Center with a dual meet against Itasca Community College on Friday and the 31st annual UW-Eau Claire Invite on Saturday. Friday's meet is set to begin at 7 p.m. while the invite will start at 9 a.m. Saturday. The invite will feature 11 teams and 119 wrestlers. Augsburg College holds a first place ranking in NCAA Division III while UW-Whitewater is fifth, La Crosse is ninth, Stevens Point is 10th and Luther is 19th. The meet will also include NCAA Division II opponent UW-Parkside, which is ranked 12th in the latest poll. Junior College team Itasca Community College is ranked fifth and Bridgewater is ninth in the junior college rankings. Two club teams, Winona State University and UW-Milwaukee will also compete at the invite. While a number of the teams are ranked, there could be up to 20 nationally ranked wrestlers competing. Leading the way for the Blugolds will be Josh Holforty (Sr.-Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) who is ranked fourth at 197 pounds. He currently holds a 20-6 overall record this season and has taken first at two other tournaments and third at another earlier this year. - KM - |
