Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Swimming Tops Mankato, Women Come Up Short Posted: Friday, November 12, 2004 ST. PETER, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team scored a decisive 163-63 dual meet victory over MSU-Mankato while the women fell by a slim 134-109 margin here today in Minnesota. Mike Carroll (Sr.-Green Lake) led the Blugold men with two, first-place finishes. Carroll won the 1,000-yard freestyle event in a time of 10:31.04 while also winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.93. Gabe Gottfredsen (So.-Eau Claire/North) finished second behind Carroll in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:18.68. Steve Fisher (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) also took two, first-place finishes on the night, winning both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. He won the 50-yard with a time of 23.27 seconds and the 100-yard in a time of 51.00 seconds. Matt Scheubel (Sr.-Racine/Horlick) claimed first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:13.99 while Brian Hauerwas (Fr.-Caledonia/Racine Case) took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.47 seconds. Peter Shafe (So.-Burlington) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.26. The Blugold men also took first place in the 400-yard freestyle and medley relays. The Eau Claire men divers were up against no competition but still posted good scores. Bryan Dykstra (Fr.-Racine/Horlick) won the 3-meter event with a score of 227.65 while Scott Heatwole (Jr.-Port Washington) won the 1-meter event with a score of 225.50. The Blugold women were led by Cori Severson (Jr.-Brainerd, MN), Kara Kneisl (Fr.-Mahtomedi, MN) and Annie Gorman (Jr.-Menomonie), who each took one first and one second place finish. Severson won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.69 seconds while taking second in 100-yard freestyle. Kneisl won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:03.81 while taking second in the 200-yard individual medley. Gorman claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.91 while taking second in the 200-yard freestyle. Amanda Kroger (Fr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) won the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:31.06. The two teams will be in action next Saturday when they host the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Relays.
