Ritsche Has Career Day As Gymnasts Fall Short

MENOMONIE, Wis. - While Kerri Ritsche (So. -South Range, Wis./Superior) recorded career-highs in two events tonight at UW-Stout's John Zuerlein Invite, the UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team took last place at Johnson Fieldhouse.
Oshkosh and Stout each scored 175.575 points to tie for first place and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) took third with 171.625. Eau Claire finished with 169.525 points.
Ritsche had the best night overall for the Blugolds, taking second place on the balance beam with a 9.175 and fifth on the uneven bars with an 8.900, both career highs. She also took fourth in the all-around with a score of 34.625 behind a 16th place finish on the vault and a 21st place finish in the floor exercise.
Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear) also competed well for the Blugolds with two top five finishes. On the uneven bars she was Eau Claire's highest finisher, taking third with a 9.050 while she finished fifth on the balance beam with an 8.925.
Sarah Hulbert (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North) had the highest finish for Eau Claire on the vault. She came in fourth place with a career-best 9.200. She also had the Blugolds' best finish in the floor exercise, taking 16th place overall with an 8.200.
The Blugolds will compete again next Friday in a dual meet against Hamline University in St. Paul. Events are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
