Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball Ready For Round Two With Superior Posted: Monday, January 26, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The eighth-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team looks to pick up its eighth conference win of the season Wednesday night, when UW-Superior makes its way to Zorn Arena. J.J. Jumper, the NCAA's mascot, will be making an appearance at the game to sign autographs along with the Blugold players following the game. The Blugolds are coming off a 64-47 win over UW-La Crosse on Saturday night. With a 15-2 overall record and a 7-2 WIAC mark, Eau Claire currently sits in third place in the conference standings. Superior is 4-13 on the season and 0-9 in conference play. In the last meeting between these two teams, the Blugolds squeaked out a 48-43 win at Superior. On the year, Eau Claire averages 65 points per game while holding its opponents to just 52 points, which is second in the WIAC. The Blugolds out-rebound their opponents by a 36.9 to 30.1 margin per game, while shooting 76.3 percent from the free throw line, good for third in the WIAC. A trio of Blugolds lead the offensive charge for Eau Claire. Heidi Arciszewski (Sr.-Thorp, Wis.) leads the team, averaging 15.4 points per game, second in the conference, to go along with a team-high 6.2 rebounds per game. Center Hannah Mesick (So.-Chatfield, Minn.) is second on the team with 14.2 points and leads the team with nine blocks. Heather Witt (Sr.-Royall, Wis./Kendall) has been solid on both sides of the ball for the Blugolds, leading the conference with 3.94 steals and 3.41 assists per game, as well as dropping in 13.1 points per contest. Wednesday's game is also Youth Night for Blugold fans. Two youths will be admitted free into the game with a paid adult admission. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. - CL - |
