The Blugolds face St. Norbert College on Friday and Lake Forest College on Saturday. Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. each night at Hobbs Ice Center. The Blugolds head into the weekend with a 12-5-1 overall record. Eau Claire is undefeated in its past four games and is 5-1-1 in the past seven games. Defending national champion St. Norbert, which is ranked fourth in the latest USCHO.com poll, is 14-4 this year and is on a two game winning streak, defeating Lake Forest 9-0 last Saturday and St. Mary's (Minn.) the weekend before 5-1. Lake Forest is 5-12-1 on the season, losing its last two games 9-0 and 7-2. After 18 games this season, Sean Garrity (Sr.-North St. Paul, Minn./North) and Joe Bluhm (Jr.-Red Wing, Minn.) both lead the Blugolds with 11 goals each. Jesse Vesel (Sr.-Hibbing, Minn.), Brant Marple (Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) and Greg Petersen (Sr.-Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) have assisted with goals 12 times each this season. Tyler Brigl (Jr.-Eagan, Minn.) leads the Blugolds with more than 902 minutes between the pipes and holds a 2.06 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. This weekend's games will be the second of the season against both teams as the Blugolds faced the teams in the middle of November. The Blugolds came away with a 4-3 victory at Lake Forest on November 14 but fell short at St. Norbert 4-3 the next day. Against St. Norbert, the Blugolds are 3-36-2 all-time and have not won since 1995. The Blugolds tied the Green Knights 2-2 at home in 2005. The Blugolds have a 20-26-4 all-time record against Lake Forest. - MT - |
