Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving Falls At La Crosse Posted: Saturday, January 17, 2009 LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams saw their first conference dual meet action in more than two months but came up short to UW-La Crosse today. The Blugold men scored 100 points while La Crosse came away with 136 and the Blugold women finished with 101 as the Eagles completed the day with 134. Both La Crosse teams remain undefeated in conference dual meet action at 2-0 while both the Blugold men and women fall to 2-1. Eau Claire's men and women each came away with four individual top honors and one relay team finishing first. Angie Bakula (So.-Appleton, Wis./West) took first in two events on the day. In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Bakula finished in 10:56.99, more than two seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.94. In the 200-yard butterfly, Nicole Dorvinen (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) finished almost four seconds ahead of the field with a time of 2:11.31. Alyssa Trainor (So.-Winona, Minn./Cotter) took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:15.92 and Kirsten Lickel (Fr.-Madison, Wis./East) took second with a time of 2:17.72. On the men's side, Bryan Dykstra (Sr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick) finished with two wins. In the 3-meter dive, Dykstra took the top spot with a score of 309.90, while he took first in the 1-meter dive with 284.30. Matt Schultz (Jr.-Oakdale, Minn./North) also found his way to a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.33 and Peter Schultz (Sr.-Oakdale, Minn./North) took the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.80. In the relays, both Blugold teams won the 400-yard freestyle. The team of Chris Paradeise (So.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview), Kyle Henrics (Fr.-Brown Deer, Wis.), Philipp-Andreas Schmidt (Fr.-Waunakee, Wis.) and Alex Colborn (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) won with a time of 3:36.09 for the men and Emily Bowen (Fr.-McFarland, Wis.), Ann Grossklaus (Jr.-Rib Mountain, Wis./Wausau West), Megan Finley (So.-Waunakee, Wis.) and Casey Preissel (Fr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) took first with a time of 3:43.52 Up next the Blugolds will head to Stevens Point for the UW-Stevens Point Invite. The meet is set to take place next Friday and Saturday, with events starting at 9 a.m. both days. - KM - |
