Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Splits The Day At Home Posted: Wednesday, January 7, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team ended the day with a 39-3 win over Lawrence University and a 30-19 loss against UW-Platteville today in McPhee. In the first match against Lawrence, the Blugolds had eight wrestlers come away with victories. Andy Miller (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) kicked the Blugolds' off with a forfeit win in the 133 pound match. Zach Weisenberger (Fr.-Ladysmith, Wis.), Seth Hendricks (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) and Keith Dawson (Fr.-Neillsville, Wis.) all came away with forfeit wins as well in the 141, 165 and 174 pound matches, respectively. Andy Johnston (Jr.-St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) defeated his opponent 7-6 in the 149 pound match, while Jon Ames (Jr.-Genoa, Wis./Viroqua) won a 16-2 major decision in the 157 pound match. Josh Holforty (Sr.-Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy) won a 17-2 technical fall over his opponent in the 197 pound match and Joe Pitsch (Fr.-Oshkosh, Wis./North) came away with the 3-1 win in the heavyweight category. In the match against UW-Platteville, Eau Claire had four wrestlers come away with victories. Miller came away with a 10-0 major decision victory over Chris Spaude in the 133 pound match, giving him two victories on the day. Johnston notched his second win of the day in the 149 pound match after pinning opponent Shawn Flom in 3:33. Holforty followed suit in the 197 pound match after pinning opponent Matt Beschta in 4:06 for his second win of the day and Pitsch came away with the second heavyweight victory after defeating Adam Mossner 7-1. The Blugolds will be back in action in the Concordia Dual at Westfield High School on January 10.
