Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey To Host St. Kate's, St. Ben's Posted: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will open their home schedule by hosting the College of St. Catherine and the College of St. Benedict this weekend at Hobbs Ice Center. The Blugolds come into the weekend 1-1 following a split with St. Olaf. Eau Claire was led by the play of Devon Nichols (Jr.-Victoria, MN) and Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH). Nichols scored the game winner in the second game and assisted on the final goal. Schultz scored the lone Blugold goal in the season opener and added an assist in the 3-1 win. Jill Arendt (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) started both games in goal stopping 56 shots and allowing four goals. Eau Claire is 1-5-2 lifetime against St. Kate's winning their first game over the Wildcats 9-2 last year. The Blugolds tied St. Kate's 4-4 in the other game last year. St. Kate's comes in to the weekend with a 0-1 record following a 6-2 loss to UW-River Falls. Laurel Volenec scored both goals for the Wildcats. The game against St. Ben's will be the first meeting between the first two schools. St. Ben's lost both their games in the season opening weekend losing to UW-Superior 5-2 and 7-0 to River Falls. The Blazers only two goals came from sophomores Erin Baldwin and Sarah Wilson. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. - JL - |
