Sun, May 26, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving Each Take Third In St. Cloud Posted: Saturday, November 6, 2004 ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Both the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams took third place at the St. Cloud Invite here today at the Halenbeck Aquatic Center. The Blugold men finished in third place out of five teams with 421 points while the women took third out of six teams with a score of 602.5. The men's team was led by two swimmers in the same event, who claimed the Blugolds' top two finishes at the meet. Mike Carroll (Sr.-Green Lake) took third place overall in the 400-yard individual medley competition with a time of 4:38.00 while teammate Peter Shafe (So.-Burlington) finished just behind Carroll in fourth place with a time of 4:38.42. The women finished with six top-four finishes, led by Ane Klomps (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) who took first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:02.77. Teammate Calli King (So.-Madison/Memorial) finished in second place in the event with a time of 1:04.66. Cori Severson (Jr.-Brainerd, MN) also claimed a second place finish, doing so in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.06 seconds. The Blugolds also got a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which finished in a time of 1:42.16. Kara Kneisl (Fr.-Mahtomedi, MN) claimed third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.67 while Annie Gorman (Jr.-Menomonie) took fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.42. Both teams will be in action next Friday when they head to St. Peter, Minn., to battle Mankato State. The meet is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. - DN - |
