Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball Hosts La Crosse Saturday Posted: Thursday, December 11, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The eighth-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will host UW-La Crosse this Saturday in the second game of a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Zorn Arena. The Blugold men will open the doubleheader against the Eagles at 3 p.m. while the women's game is slated for 5 p.m. Eau Claire enters the contest with an 8-0 record and a 2-0 conference record. The Eagles are 5-2 this year with an 0-1 WIAC record, losing 58-56 in the final seconds to Stevens Point yesterday, a team the Blugolds beat 60-54 earlier this season. The Blugolds are currently on a 22-game conference winning streak at Zorn Arena with their last lost coming on January 25, 2006. The Blugolds are 39-16 all-time against La Crosse and have won the previous four meetings. Heidi Arciszewski (Sr.-Thorp, Wis.) is leading the Blugolds this season with 18.8 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. She is also on a hot streak shooting free throws, hitting 39 consecutive to this point. For the season she is 52-53 from the line. Heather Witt (Sr.-Kendall, Wis./Royall) and Hannah Mesick (So.-Chatfield, Minn.) are averaging double-figures this season as well with 13.6 and 13.5 points, respectively. Witt also leads Eau Claire with 35 steals and 26 assists. Mackenzie Hunter leads the Eagles with 21.3 points per contest, while Lindsay Wahl has averaged 17.7 points per game. Wahl also leads La Crosse with 5.9 rebounds per game. - KM - |
