MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Three UW-Eau Claire football players have been named to this year's D3football.com All-West Region Teams, D3football.com publisher Pat Coleman recently announced.

Cornerback Craig Polifka (Sr.-Kewaunee, Wis.) highlighted this year's selections with first team defense recognition. This is only the second time in the award's four-year history a Blugold was named to the first team. Polifka, who recently earned the Blugolds' Special Teams MVP award, was fourth on the team this season with 40 tackles, including 35 solos and five assists. He led Eau Claire with four interceptions. Polifka handled the return duties as well, accumulating 499 kick return yards with 24 returns and 113 yards with 17 punt returns. Polifka earned first team All-WIAC honors this year and was a second team All-WIAC selection as a return specialist last season

Offensive lineman Dan Puls (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) was a second team All-West Region selection. Puls, who was a first team All-WIAC member this season, started every game this year at right tackle. Last season he also played in all 12 games for Eau Claire. As part of the line, Puls helped clear the way for the Blugolds' rushing attack and allowed opponents only nine sacks the entire regular season, tied for best in the WIAC.

Safety Dave Wicklund (Sr.-Kewaskum, Wis./Bemidji St.) received third team defense honors for the second year in a row. Wicklund led the Blugolds with 51 solo tackles and 17 assists for a total of 68 tackles, which was ninth in the WIAC, and was named the team's defensive MVP earlier this week. Wicklund earned second team All-WIAC honors this year and was a first team All-WIAC selection, as well as a third team D3football.com All-America selection last season.
