Superior got on the board first, at the 3:00 minute mark in the opening period on a goal from Chris Berry, his sixth of the season. Finding the back of the net once again, Superior extended its lead on a Branden Desmet goal in the second period. Eau Claire attempted to mount a comeback in the third period, with a goal from Sean Garrity (North St. Paul, Minn./North) at the 14:15 mark, his second in as many games. It was Garrity's eight goal of the season, and was assisted by Nic Weight (Fr.-Eagle River Pines, Wis./Northland Pines) andTyler Trudell (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./South). It was Weight's second and Trudell's fourth assist of the season. Tyler Brigl (Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) took the loss between the pipes for Eau Claire. Brigl allowed the two Yellowjacket scores and made 33 saves on the night. The Blugolds will be back on the ice next weekend for two more games. Friday the Blugolds will take on Augsburg College at Hobbs Ice Center and will then travel to Blaine, Minnesota to face Bethel University on Saturday. Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. - CL - |
