Posted: Wednesday, December 3, 2008
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team is set for its second home weekend series of the season this Friday and Saturday as it looks to take on conference opponents St. Scholastica and UW-Superior.
With Eau Claire ranked 10th in the USCHO Division III Men's Rankings, the 7-2 men are currently in a four-way tie for third place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with UW-Stevens Point, St. Scholastica and UW-Stout, who shut out the Blugolds 2-0 two weeks ago.
The UW-Superior Yellowjackets have started their year well, sitting atop the NCHA with a 4-0 conference record and being ranked second in the USCHO poll with a 10-1-1 record. In the all-time series against the Yellowjackets, the Blugolds have a 33-67-4 record with their most recent loss to Superior coming back in February of this year.
The 15th-ranked St. Scholastica Saints, who are currently tied with the Blugolds in the NCHA, have a 2-2 conference record and a 7-3-1 overall record, with a non-conference loss coming from the Blugolds earlier this season. In the all-time series against the Saints, the Blugolds are looking to improve the 39-17-6 record, having not lost the last four contests against St. Scholastica.
The Blugolds are set to play St. Scholastica Friday night at 7 p.m. with the matchup against UW-Superior taking place Saturday night at 7 p.m. Both games will take place at Hobbs Ice Center.
