Mesick Earns WIAC Honor

MADISON, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire women's basketball player Hannah Mesick (So. -Chatfield, Minn.) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) athlete of the week, conference spokesman Matt Stanek announced today.
Mesick helped UW-Eau Claire to three wins during the week, including victories over a pair of NCAA tournament qualifiers from last season. In a 66-57 upset win over No. 16-ranked St. Norbert College on Nov. 25, she scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and grabbed three rebounds as the Blugolds handed the Green Knights their first loss of the year. In the UW-Eau Claire Thanksgiving Showcase, she earned Tournament MVP honors after recording 19 points in a 60-54 championship game triumph against previously unbeaten UW-Stevens Point. Mesick converted 9-of-12 shots from the field, grabbed five rebounds, had two blocked shots and dished out one assist against the Pointers. In the semifinal contest against St. Olaf College (Minn.), she contributed 10 points and one rebound in an 80-45 win.
