Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Basketball Set For Home Opener Posted: Monday, December 1, 2008 After playing its first four games of the 2008-09 season on the road, the UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team prepares to host its home opener Tuesday evening against Finlandia (Mich.). The Blugolds currently sit at 2-2 on the season, winning its last contest against Clarke College (Iowa) in the Oshkosh Classic Saturday evening by a score of 82-75. As a team, Eau Claire is averaging 83.5 points per game and shooting just over 50 percent from the field. The Blugolds have also dished out 64 assists and made 39 steals on the young season. Leading the charge is senior Dan Beyer (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial). Beyer is averaging 13.5 points per game to go along with a team-high 5.3 rebounds. Ryan Shea (So.-Duluth, Minn./East) is right behind Beyer with 13.3 points per game, while also averaging 4.5 boards per game to go along with a team leading five blocks. Shea has been the team's leading scorer and rebounder in two of the four games this season. Finlandia enters Tuesday's game in search of its first win of the season, going 0-5 to start the year. Tyler Gordon leads the Lions. Erik Bresette is the only other Lion averaging double-digit points. Tuesday night's game, which is also Youth Night, is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Zorn Arena. - CL - |
