Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Volleyball Earns Two AVCA All-America Honors Posted: Tuesday, November 18, 2008 LEXINGTON, Ky. - UW-Eau Claire volleyball players Abby Freiborg (Sr. -Sacred Heart, Minn./Renville County West) and Emily Haese (Sr. -Mishicot, Wis.) have been selected to the 2008 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-America team, AVCA officials announced today. Freiborg led the selections for the Blugolds as a second team honoree. Recently, Freiborg was also named WIAC Player of the Year and the conference's Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete winner, as well as being selected a first team All-WIAC member. She ended her career in fifth place on the Blugolds' all-time career total attacks (3,151), service aces (217) and digs (1,439) lists. Freiborg led the Blugolds this year with 373 kills and 65 service aces, and was second on the team with 406 digs. Haese was recognized as an honorable mention selection. This season she led Eau Claire with 1,289 assists and was fourth on the team with 45 blocks and 21 service aces. Haese also earned All-WIAC first team honors this season. This is the first time since 2006 the Blugolds were represented on the All-America team. In all, only 14 other Blugolds in program history have earned All-America honors.
