Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's & Women's Swimming Triumph Over Oshkosh Posted: Saturday, November 15, 2008 OSHKOSH, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams were successful in both efforts today, defeating UW-Oshkosh at Albee Hall. On the men's side, the Blugolds outscored the Titans 122 to 102, winning seven of the 13 events. The Blugold women won eight of the 13 events to beat Oshkosh 136 to 83. Ben Macalalad (So.-Wausau, Wis./East) won the 1,650 yard freestyle in a time of 17:12.47. Winning the 200 yard freestyle was senior Patrick Finley (Sr.-Waunakee, Wis.) in 1:47.58. Finley also took first in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:02.74. Brett Olson (Jr.-New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) took home top honors in the 50 yard freestyle in 23.25. Jacob Gramling (Fr.-Brookfield, Wis./East) finished in first place in two events this afternoon, finishing the 400 yard individual medley in a time of 4:46.11, and winning the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:25. In the women's events, Angie Bakula So.-Appleton, Wis./West) won the 1,650 yard freestyle in 18:40.29 to go along with a victory in the 500 yard freestyle. Emily Bowen (Fr.-McFarland, Wis.) won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:02.63. Megan Finley (So.-Waunakee, Wis.) finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.45, while Nicole Dorvinen (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won the 400 yard individual medley in 4:49.49. Both teams will be back in action on November 22, hosting the WIAC Conference Relays. The swimming portion is set to begin at 10 a.m., while diving is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. - CL - |
