Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Sat, Mar 15, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Cross Country Claims Midwest Regional Crown Posted: Saturday, November 15, 2008 ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team punched its ticket to the NCAA Nationals with a first place finish at the Midwest Regional Championships today at the Saukie Golf Course. Five of the seven Blugold runners finished in the top 50 out of 292 competitors to outrun the pack of 43 teams competing. With the victory, Eau Claire will make its fourth straight appearance at Nationals. Last season, the Blugolds finished in eighth place. Leading the Blugolds today was senior Mary Palmer (Sr.-Anoka, Minn.). Palmer placed sixth and finished the course in a time of 21:53. Beth Easker (So.-Wittenberg, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) finished in 22:12, good for 11th place. Finishing in 22nd place was Hannah Humbach (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life Christian) with a time of 22:44, while freshman Alyssa Sybilrud (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) was just four seconds behind Humbach, for a 23rd place finish. Rounding out the top five for the Blugolds was Jenna Smith (Jr.-Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper). Smith finished in 46th place with a time of 23:11. Molly Woodford (So.-Waukesha, Wis./South) and Ellie Lutz (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) also ran for Eau Claire, finishing in 78th and 83rd place, respectively. The Blugolds will now travel to Hanover, Ind. on November 22 for the NCAA Nationals. The event is slated to begin at 11 a.m. - CL - |
