Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Basketball Set To Face Green Bay Posted: Thursday, November 6, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - This Sunday the UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team will take on NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay in an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. at the Resch Center in Green Bay. This is the 12th time the Blugolds are facing the Phoenix all-time. The Blugolds hold the edge over Green Bay with a 7-4 record. The last time the Blugolds faced Green Bay was on December 23, 1986. They won that contest 44-41 and also won the previous three meetings. Eau Claire is coming off a season where it finished with an overall record of 12-15 and took seventh place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blugolds upset Platteville in the WIAC Quarterfinals, but lost to Stevens Point in the semis. This year the Blugolds are predicted to finish sixth in the WIAC. Last season Green Bay finished with an overall record of 15-15. This year the Phoenix have already played one exhibition game. On November 1, Division II Minnesota-Duluth faced the Phoenix in Green Bay and came away with a 93-61 loss. Division III teams are facing larger schools recently because the NCAA passed legislation that allows such exhibition games in the preseason. These games don't count as one of the 25 allowed games for the DIII schools. The Blugolds kick off the regular season at the Wheaton College Tip-Off Tournament on November 21 and 22. - KM - |
