Although they are not ranked in the USCHO Division III Men's Rankings, the 3-0 men are currently in a three-way-tie for first in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with UW-Stevens Point and St. Norbert, who is ranked first nationally in Division III. The St. Thomas Tommies have started their season undefeated after opening with a 3-1 home win against 13th ranked UW-Superior and a 3-3 come from behind tie against St. Scholastica at home. The Blugolds had no trouble against St. Scholastica, beating them in its home opener 4-1. In the all-time series against the St. Thomas, Eau Claire has a 5-15-2 record and hasn't won against the Tommies since their 6-3 victory in 2000. The St. Mary's Cardinals opened their season on Halloween night with a 9-1 loss against St. Scholastica and followed up with a 10-3 loss the next day against UW-Superior. In the all-time series against the Cardinals, the Blugolds are looking to improve the 5-11-2 record, having not lost a game against St. Mary's since 2003. This weekend's games are non-conference matchups. On Friday against the Tommies and on Saturday against the Cardinals, the puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Center - MT - |
