This Saturday the Blugolds look to defend their title at the conference meet in Stevens Point. Eau Claire comes into the weekend ranked first in the Midwest region and fourth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association top 35 national poll. A total of 12 women will run for Eau Claire, including three of the Blugolds' top four runners from last year's conference meet. Last year Mary Palmer (Sr.-Anoka, Minn.) led the Blugolds with a fourth place finish overall. Beth Lutz (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) took ninth a year ago, while Hannah Humbach (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life Christian) finished 12th. Another Blugold who has competed well so far this season and will likely be a contributor at the meet for the Blugolds is Beth Easker (So.-Wittenberg, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood). The women's WIAC Championship is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Wisconsin River Golf Club. - KM - |
