Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Winning Streak Snapped Posted: Saturday, October 18, 2008 LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team lost to UW-La Crosse today at Veterans Courts by a score of 6-3, snapping its seven-meet winning streak. With the loss, the Blugolds fall to 8-4 on the season, and 4-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). La Crosse improves to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. In the singles competition, La Crosse won five of the six matches played. Erin Welch (Jr.-Tomah, Wis.) notched the sole victory for the Blugolds in the No. 4 slot, by a score of 6-4, 7-5. Brenna McCormick (Jr.-Greendale, Wis.) took the loss in the No. 3 spot with scores of 4-6, 6-3 and 6-3. No. 2 Megan Born (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) lost 6-2, 6-0, while Gina Dahl (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) dropped the No. 1 match by scores of 6-2, 6-0. On the doubles side, the Blugolds prevailed in two of the three matches. The No. 3 pair of Jackie Gillespie (Fr.-De Pere, Wis.) and Emily Hiebl (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) won 9-7, while the No. 2 pair of Welch and McCormick were victorious by a score of 8-6. Dahl and Courtney Lynne (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) were handed the loss in the No. 1 match, 8-5. Eau Claire will resume play next Saturday and Sunday at the WIAC Championship in Madison.
