Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimmers & Divers Drop Dual Meets To Stevens Point Posted: Friday, October 29, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - Both the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell in dual meet competition to UW-Stevens Point here tonight at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugold men fell by a score of 181-62 and had two, first place finishes at the meet. Bryan Dykstra (Fr.-Racine/Horlick) took first in the 1-meter diving event, finishing with a score of 203.05 while also claiming third place in the 3-meter diving event. Scott Heatwole (Jr.-Port Washington) took first place in the 3-meter dive, totaling 238.25 points. Heatwole finished fourth in the 1-meter event. On the swimming side, Peter Shafe (So.-Burlington) grabbed a second and third place finish at the meet. Shafe took second place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.84 while taking third in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:09.24. Mike Carroll (Sr.-Green Lake) took third place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:48.65 while taking fourth in the 500-yard freestyle. The women Blugolds dropped their dual meet to the Pointers by a score of 176-67. Cori Severson (Jr.-Brainerd) won the 50-yard freestyle event, finishing in a time of 24.71 seconds. Severson also took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.03 seconds. She was also a member of the second place 200-yard freestyle relay team. Sarah Myers (So.-Eau Claire/North) was the only other Blugolds with a first place finish, winning the 1-meter diving event with a score of 203.20. Myers took third place in the 3-meter event. Annie Gorman (Jr.-Menomonie) took a second and a third place finish on the night, finishing runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.75 and taking third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:22.84. Emily Diehl (Fr.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) grabbed second place in the 200-yard breaststroke competition with a time of 2:38.90. Both the women and men Blugolds will be in action next Saturday when they compete in the St. Cloud Invite beginning at 9:00 a.m. - DN - |
