Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Volleyball Prepares For Final Home Matches Posted: Thursday, October 16, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Coming off a sweep of UW-Stout on Wednesday night, the UW-Eau Claire volleyball team gears up for a home double dip this weekend. On Friday evening the Blugolds take on UW-Stevens Point, with UW-Whitewater coming to town on Saturday afternoon. This weekend will also be Parents and Alumni weekend for the Blugolds. Eau Claire currently sits in first place in the WIAC with an unblemished 5-0 record, and is 13-9 for the season. Abby Freiborg (Sr.-Sacred Heart, Minn./Renville County West) is atop the team leader board with 2.66 kills per game and 39 service aces. Emily Haese (Sr.-Mishicot, Wis.) is second in the conference with 9.21 assists per game. Lindsey Smith (Jr.-Maple Lake, Minn.) leads the team with nearly four digs per game, while Katie Fox (Sr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) ranks third in the WIAC with a combined total of 76 blocks on the season. Stevens Point comes into Friday's contest with a 12-17 overall record and 1-5 conference record. Jennifer Rueter leads Stevens Point with 2.39 kills per game, while Amanda Mix paces the defense with 4.68 digs per game. Whitewater is currently in third place in the WIAC standings with a 4-2 record and a 19-6 overall record. Keri Klotzbuecher leads a balanced Warhawk with 2.68 kills per game, and Alyssa Bauer is tops on defense with 4.44 digs per game. Friday's match is slated to begin at 7 p.m., and Saturday's start time is noon. Both matches will be held at the McPhee Physical Education Center. - CL - |
