EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - This Saturday the two unbeaten soccer teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point, will face each other at 1 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire.

The Blugolds enter the contest with an overall record of 12-0-2, ranked third in Division III, while the Pointers are 10-2-0 and tied for 22nd in the nation. Both teams are 4-0-0 in WIAC play.

Stevens Point holds the lead in the all-time series record at 24-6-4, but the Blugolds have not lost to the Pointers since 2004. The Pointers have also been unable to score a goal at the Bollinger Fields since 2004. Last season Eau Claire defeated Stevens Point twice, once in the regular season and once in the post season, and also beat the Pointers in Eau Claire in 2006. In 2005 the Blugolds tied the Pointers 2-2 in Stevens Point.

This season, Eau Claire leads the WIAC in total goals with 56 in 14 games, while the Pointers are second with 50 goals in 12 games. Stevens Point leads in goals per game average with 4.17 compared to the Blugolds' 4.

Eau Claire's defense has allowed only 10 goals this season compared to the Pointers' 11. Eau Claire holds a 0.69 goals against average, while Stevens Point has a 0.91 average. Both teams are tied with seven shutouts on the season.

Eau Claire's Amy Smith (Sr.-Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) leads the team and is second best in the WIAC with 15 goals so far this year, while Stevens Point's Kaylee Weise leads the WIAC with 18. Smith's 15 goals this year is a season high for her. She now has 43 goals and 110 points in her career, both of which rank fourth all-time for the Blugolds.

Blugold goalkeeper Allie Rivard (Sr.- Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) leads the conference with a 0.59 goals against average, while Stevens Point's Pam Luckow is third with a 0.92 average. Rivard also leads the WIAC with five shutouts compared to Luckow's four. Luckow is tied for second in the conference. Rivard has accumulated 12 shutouts in her career so far, which ranks third on the Blugolds' all-time career shutouts list.
