Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Soccer Comes From Behind To Stay Undefeated Posted: Wednesday, October 1, 2008 ST. PAUL, Minn. - The game started out slow, but the third-ranked UW-Eau Claire soccer team did what it needed to do to stay undefeated on the season with a 2-1 victory over Macalester College (Minn.) tonight. Macalester struck first in the game with a goal 11 minutes in. It took the Blugolds 17 minutes to answer but Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) was able to tie the game up at 1-1. Gina Christenbury (So.-Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Kenosha Tremper) received the assist on the goal. The score remained unchanged going into half time. Jamie Schiesel (So.-Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong) found the net again for the Blugolds 16 minutes into the second half. Kooistra assisted on the goal, which was Schiesel's sixth of the season. For the night, Eau Claire outshot Macalester 11-7. Allie Rivard (Sr.- Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) was in the net the entire night for the Blugolds. Despite giving up one goal, she made three stops. Macalester's goalkeeper Jenny Lee also had three saves. Eau Claire improves to 10-0-2 on the season, while Macalester drops to 6-3. The Blugolds are now 3-8-1 against Macalester all-time. This was the second year in a row the Blugolds have defeated the Scots. Prior to last season, Eau Claire's only other win against Macalester came in 1994. After more than two weeks without a home game, the Blugolds will be back in action at the Bollinger Fields this Saturday at 2 p.m. to take on UW-Whitewater. Eau Claire-Macalester Box Score - KM - |
