Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Sweeps Minnesota Competition Posted: Saturday, September 27, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated St. Scholastica University 5-4 and swept Bethel University 9-0 today at home. The Blugolds have moved up to a record of 6-3 in dual meets this year after going undefeated at home this past weekend. St. Scholastica and Bethel both dropped to 0-1. When it came to doubles competition today, the Blugolds only dropped one match. The No. 1 pair of Courtney Lynne (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and Gina Dahl (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) lost 8-3 against St. Scholastica but bounced back with an 8-5 victory over Bethel. Erin Welch (Jr.-Tomah, Wis.) and her partner Brenna McCormick (Jr.-Greendale, Wis.) sufficed with a 9-8 win over St. Scholastica while also winning 8-2 over Bethel for the No. 2 doubles match. The No. 3 doubles team of Jackie Gillespie (Fr.-De Pere, Wis.) and Emily Hiebl (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) also picked up wins against St. Scholastica and Bethel today 8-3 and 8-1, respectively. On the single's side, Welch and Michelle Reinders (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) both added wins against St. Scholastica and Bethel in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively. Dahl notched a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Bethel in the No. 1 spot. Megan Born (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) also spotted a victory over Bethel, winning 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. McCormick handled the No. 3 spot against Bethel with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Lynne played in the No. 6 spot against St. Scholastica and picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory, while Gillespie played the No. 6 spot against Bethel, picking up the 7-5, 6-2 victory. Up next, the Blugolds will have a mid-week meet against a conference opponent. The Blugolds will face UW-River Falls at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in River Falls.
