Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimmers & Divers To Host Stevens Point Friday Posted: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams will kick off dual-meet competition this Friday when they host UW-Stevens Point at 5:00 p.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds began competition October 16, when they hosted the Midwest Coed Relays but will begin regular competition on Friday. Eau Claire finished in second place out of six teams at the Midwest Relays. There were plenty of strong showings at the relays, led by a pair of diving duos. The board team of Scott Heatwole (Sr.-Port Washington) and Sarah Myers (So.-Eau Claire/North) finished first in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 205.75. The team of Bryan Dykstra (Fr.-Racine/Horlick) and Katie Anderson (So.-Eveleth, MN) took first on the 1-meter board with a score of 190.05. The Blugolds took second place at the relays in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley, and 400-yard individual medley relays. The Pointers have already had one dual meet this season, as both the men and women topped UW-Oshkosh. The men Pointers won by a score of 167-65 while the women won 171-65. Both the Pointer men and women had strong showings last season at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, as the men took first place and the women claimed second. The Blugolds and Pointers matched up on a dual meet last October, when the Pointers won decisively over both the men and women. The Eau Claire men fell by a score of 190-44 while the women dropped the meet 165-78. The meet between the Blugolds and Pointers is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday in the McPhee Physical Education Center. - DN - |
