Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Soccer Set For Big Weekend Posted: Thursday, September 18, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - This weekend the UW-Eau Claire soccer team will be on the road for two big games, facing the University of Chicago on Friday, followed by a game against two-time defending national champion Wheaton College (Ill.) Saturday. The Blugolds recently moved up to No. 6 in the latest NSCAA/adidas national poll. They are also ranked first in the central region, ahead of both Chicago and Wheaton. Chicago comes into the weekend ranked 12th in the national poll and is tied for second in the region with Wheaton. Chicago holds a 3-1-1 overall record this season. Stevens Point handed Chicago its first loss of the season on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory. The Blugolds are 1-1-1 all-time against Chicago. On Saturday, Eau Claire will look for its first win ever over Wheaton, as the Blugolds are 0-8-0 all-time against the Thunder. Last Saturday Wheaton snapped its 48-game winning streak with a 1-0 loss to Loras College. With the loss, Wheaton dropped in the national poll to No. 11. Earlier this week, Wheaton also needed an overtime period to defeat Calvin College 2-1. The Blugolds come into the weekend with a 5-0-1 record. On the season, Eau Claire is out-shooting opponents 144-32 and out-scoring opponents 27-6. The Blugolds have allowed only three goals in the last four games while scoring 23 of their own. Friday's game will begin at 4 p.m., while Saturday's game is slated for 7 p.m. - KM - |
