Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Tied For Sixth At Midwest Classic Posted: Saturday, September 13, 2008 HAM LAKE, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is currently tied for sixth place with two other teams after day one of the Division III Midwest Classic at the Majestic Oaks Golf Club. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) leads the 15-team field with a total of 318. The next closest team is the University of St. Thomas, which has 343 strokes. Concordia College is in third with 349. The Blugolds, as well as Macalester College and the College of St. Benedict, shot 356 in round one. Gustavus' Kimbra Kosak leads the 97-golfer field with a +4 score of 76. Three players are currently tied for second with 78. For the Blugolds, Emily Swift (Onalaska, Wis.) leads after shooting 86. She is tied for 16th overall. Katie Maurer (Fr.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) and Sara Mattes (Fr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central), who is golfing as an individual for Eau Claire, are tied for 18th overall with 87 strokes. Torie Ives (Jr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) and Lea Jondal (Fr.-Somerset, Wis./Cretin-Derham Hall), who is also golfing as an individual, both shot 90 and are tied for 34th. Jamie Hauser (Fr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) is tied for 48th after shooting 93 today, while Jess Spitzer (Fr.-Burlington, Wis.), also an individual, shot 92 and is tied for 42nd. The Blugolds will be back on the course tomorrow for the final day of the Midwest Classic. - KM - |
