Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Splits Home Contests Posted: Saturday, September 13, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team won its first conference meet of the season, defeating UW-Oshkosh 6-3, but then fell 7-0 to Luther College (Iowa) today in the Ade Olson Addition of the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds are now 1-2 in dual meets and 1-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meet action. Eau Claire handed Oshkosh its first dual meet loss. The Titans are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the WIAC. Luther College is now 7-2 on the season. While the Blugolds were unable to pick up a win against Luther, they only dropped matches to Oshkosh at No. 3 singles, and No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Gina Dahl (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) won at No. 1 singles over Kristina Naidicz by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Megan Born (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) defeated Oshkosh's Jenna Abbott 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Erin Welch (Jr.-Tomah, Wis.) won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Michelle Reinders (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) and Emily Hiebl (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) also picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Reinders defeated Oshkosh's Brittany Braasch 7-6, 6-1, while Hiebl won 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 over Alison Broerman. At No. 2 doubles, Brenna McCormick (Jr.-Greendale, Wis.) and Welch won 8-6 over Braasch and Broerman. The Blugolds will head to Northeast Wisconsin next weekend for three more meets. On Friday they will face Division I UW-Green Bay at 4 p.m. and will follow that with meets in Appleton against St. Norbert and Lawrence on Saturday.
