Cross Country Runs In First Event Of Season

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's cross country teams saw their first action of the 2008 season, competing in their own Hokum Karem Race at Lowes Creek County Park this afternoon.
The Blugold women, who are ranked third in the nation, finished lower than opponent UW-River Falls. Eau Claire, which held out its top runners, had finishes of fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth. River Falls finished first, second, third and fifth.
On the men's side, the No. 34-ranked Blugolds won today's event. Blugold runners finished in first, third, fourth and sixth, while River Falls had runners finish second, fifth, seventh and eighth.
The Blugolds will compete again next Saturday when they travel to Whitewater for a race that will begin at 11 a.m.
