Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Kicks Off Season With Home Invite Posted: Friday, August 29, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team will begin its 2008 season this weekend with the UW-Eau Claire Invite. The first day of the invite is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. at Mill Run Golf Course on Saturday, while golfers will tee off at 8 a.m. Sunday at Wild Ridge Golf Course. A total of 23 teams will compete this weekend. Of the 23, eight teams are ranked in this year's Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), which is ranked third in the nation, is the highest ranked team competing here this year. Two other teams, the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) and UW-Stevens Point, are also ranked in the top 10. The Blugolds, who are ranked 14th in the preseason poll, will have some work to do with an untested team. Only two members of the team, Torie Ives (Jr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) and Katie Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) return for the Blugolds, while fourth-year head coach John Means has 11 freshmen on his squad, including Katie Maurer (Fr.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) and Jamie Hauser (Fr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), who both received All-State honors in high school. - KM - |
