Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Soccer Taken Down By No. 4 Wheaton Posted: Saturday, October 23, 2004 WHEATON, Ill. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team was limited to four shots on goal in a 4-0 loss to fourth-ranked Wheaton College (IL) here today at East McCully Field. The Blugolds fall to 7-9-1 on the season while the Thunder improve to 16-1-0 overall. The win is the 16th straight for Wheaton after dropping its first match of the season. The Thunder wasted little time tallying the first goal, as Sara Johnson took a pass through the middle from Jennifer Binger in the fifth minute and scored to make it 1-0. Wheaton extended its lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute on a goal by Binger. The Blugolds were held without a shot for the entire first half but trailed by just two goals to the fourth-ranked team in the land. Eau Claire managed four shots on goal in the second half but none of them found the back of the Thunder net. Wheaton added goals by Sarah Richardson and Ashley Wiersma to finish the scoring at 4-0. The Thunder tallied 19 shots on goal to the Blugolds' four while holding Eau Claire without a single corner kick in the match. The Blugolds will finish their season next Sunday when they travel to St. Joseph, Minn., to battle the College of St. Benedict.
