SUPERIOR - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team shut out UW-Superior 6-0 here today for their sixth shutout of the year and 11th in 13 games against the Yellowjackets.

The Blugolds did most of their damage in the first half with five goals. Kelly Peterson (Jr.-Hudson/UW-Milwaukee) opened up the scoring taking a pass from Melissa Campion (Sr.-Burnsville, MN) and scoring 8:56 into the game.

Jana Huebner (Fr.-Mendota Heights, MN/St. Croix Lutheran) scored her second goal of the year moments later to put Eau Claire up 2-0. Megan Drews (So.-Wauwatosa/East) scored her first goal of the year off an Emily Meisinger (So.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) pass to put the Blugolds up 3-0 at the 32:14 mark.

Peterson scored her second goal of the game and sixth of the year unassisted moments later to move the score to 4-0. Meisinger scored her first goal of the year moments before the half ended to put the Blugolds up 5-0.

Superior kept it the deficit at five before Eau Claire's Anna Jackson (So.-Madison/West) scored her first goal in two years give the game its final margin at 6-0.

The Blugolds outshot the Yellowjackets 18-1. Val Wolf (Fr.-Plainview, MN) made her first collegiate start in goal stopping the one shot that came her way.

The win improves Eau Claire to 3-4-1 in conference play and 7-8-1 overall. The win also concludes the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season for the Blugolds.

Eau Claire will be in action next when they travel to Wheaton, Ill. to play Wheaton College Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
