Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Finishes Second At Challenge Posted: Friday, April 18, 2008 LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team took second place out of nine teams at the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse here today. La Crosse won the meet with a score of 198.50, while the Blugolds finished with 180.75 for their second place finish. Winona State University (Minn.) took third with 96 points, and UW-Stout scored 51 to take fourth. UW-River Falls finished in fifth with 47, while UW-Stevens Point finished right behind the Falcons with 46.75. Eau Claire brought home six first place finishes, four from track events and two from field events, despite the poor weather conditions. Liz Kooistra (Jr.-Lakeville, Minn.) led the team, taking the top spot in both the 200 and 400-meter dash. She finished with times of 25.54 and 56.86, respectively. Hannah Humbach (So.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) also took first place in the 1,500-meter run with a time 4:49.55. The Blugolds’ Liz Faller (Sr.-Marinette, Wis.) also finished in first with a time of 14.69 in the 100-meter hurdles. In addition, Faller had a second place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 65.55. In the field events, Hayley Suckow (So.-Elk Mound, Wis.) won the pole vault with a height of 11-11 3/4. Alicia Schuelke (Jr.-Gilman, Wis.) also brought home a first place finish in the high jump with a height of 5-1 3/4. Next weekend the Blugolds will compete in three different events. On Friday and Saturday some of the team will head to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, while others will compete in the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. The Blugolds are also scheduled to attend the UW-Oshkosh Open at 11 a.m. Saturday. - KM - |
