Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Splits In Oshkosh Posted: Friday, April 11, 2008 OSHKOSH, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won its first meet against UW-La Crosse 6-3, but dropped its second meet to UW-Whitewater 7-2 at the YMCA Tennis Center tonight. The Blugolds won 13 straight matches before losing to Whitewater, bringing their season record to 24-4. The loss drops La Crosse's record to 10-6, while Whitewater improved to 16-7. In singles play, the Blugolds were unable to pick up a win over Whitewater but won four matches against La Crosse. Erik Brandner (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles, while C.J. Rose (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley) picked up a victory at No. 6 by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Phil Loprinzi (So.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) defeated La Crosse's Dale Wroblewski 6-2, 7-5 playing at No. 3 singles. Kevin Fawcett (So.-Madison, WI/Verona) needed a super-tiebreaker for a victory over Joey Van Lieshout at No. 2, winning 3-6, 6-2, 11-9. Loprinzi and Steve Lantz (Jr.-Rochester, MN/Century) were the only doubles pair for the Blugolds to go undefeated for the day. They won 8-5 over La Crosse and 8-4 over Whitewater at No. 1. Lars Olson (Fr.-De Pere, WI) and Fawcett defeated Whitewater opponents 8-2 at No. 2, while Rose and Aaron Johnson (Fr.-Elk River, MN) won 8-5 in the No. 3 spot over La Crosse opponents. The Blugolds will be back on the court Saturday when they take on UW-Oshkosh at 3 p.m. The meet is the final regular season contest for the Blugolds' 2008 campaign.
