Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Takes Third At Wartburg Invite Posted: Sunday, April 6, 2008 WAVERLY, Iowa - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team shot a 337 today at the two-day Wartburg College Invitational, totaling 672 for a third place finish. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) won the event with a 648, shooting 329 yesterday and 319 today, while Illinois Wesleyan finished in second with a two day total of 666. Finishing in fourth was Franklin College with a 699, followed by host Wartburg College with 702. Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, Wis.) was the highest Blugold finisher at the event, shooting 75 the first day and 79 the second. Yesterday she led the field by five strokes, but Franklin's Katie Tewell, who placed third last season at the NCAA Championships, shot six strokes better than Sobotta today. Both golfers shot 154 for the invite to become individual co-champions. Torie Ives (So.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) finished one spot behind Sobotta with 156 strokes. Ives led Eau Claire today, finishing the second day of competition with 76 strokes. Bri Obermueller (So.-River Falls, Wis.) shot a 178, tying for 23rd place, while Sarah Hansen (Sr.-Bangor, Wis.) tied for 37th with 187 strokes. Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, Wis.) finished with two more strokes, 189, to take 41st place. Up next the Blugolds will head to Bloomington, Ill. to take place in the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.
