Men's Tennis Goes Undefeated On Spring Break Trip

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team finished up its spring break trip today with a 5-4 win over Grove City College (Pa.).

The Blugolds swept the doubles competition with Steve Lantz (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) and Phil Loprinzi (So.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) winning 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. In No. 2 play, Lars Olson (Fr.-De Pere) and Kevin Fawcett (So.-Madison/Verona) took the contest 8-6. C.J. Rose (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley) teamed with Aaron Johnson (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.) for an 8-5 victory in No. 3 doubles.

Lantz and Olson pulled off the two singles wins. Lantz's 6-3, 6-2 match came in No. 1 competition while Olson's 6-3, 6-2 victory was at No. 4 play. Olson went undefeated on the trip, taking all 10 matches.

The Blugolds went a perfect 6-0 in Hilton Head. Their next action will be March 30 against Hamline University (Minn.) and MSU-Mankato (Minn.).
