KANSAS CITY, Mo. - UW-Eau Claire men's basketball player Dan Beyer (Sr. -Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) received first team Division III All-District National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) honors, being selected to the west district team, NABC officials announced today.
The team is selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. The student-athletes chosen represent the finest basketball players across America. The 88 student-athletes that made it to the team, from eight districts, are now eligible for the State Farm Division III All-America teams, selected by the NABC.
Beyer has already received honors as the Blugolds' Most Valuable Player for the second straight year and as a first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selection. He was also recently selected to the D3hoops.com All-West region team. Beyer led the Blugolds with 19 points per game, 7.3 rebounds per game and a field goal percentage of .606. His 19 points per game was also tied for best in the WIAC, and his rebounding and field goal percentage was third in the WIAC. While Beyer was a senior this season, he will be back on the team next season as a fifth-year senior after earning a medical hardship during his sophomore season.
Whitewater's Matt Goodwin received NABC Player of the Year and first team honors in the west district. Jeff Skemp of Platteville was also named to the first team, while Stevens Point's Steve Hicklin received second team recognition.
