Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Stays Unbeaten On Spring Break Trip Posted: Monday, March 17, 2008 HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won its second straight match on its spring break trip, defeating Hobart University 8-1 here today. While Steve Lantz (Jr.-Rochester, MN/Century) was unable to pick up a victory at No. 1 singles, the Blugolds did not drop another match the rest of the day. Lantz faced Hobart's Charlie Davis and played in a super-tiebreaker but lost 7-6, 2-6, 10-7. Phil Loprinzi (So.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) won at No. 2 singles, by scores of 6-3, 6-1 over Adam Cohn. At No. 3, Kevin Fawcett (So.-Madison, Wis./Verona) gave up only two points, defeating Matt Chin 6-1, 6-1. Lars Olson (Fr.-De Pere, Wis.) and Erik Brandner (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) remained undefeated in singles play on the trip, winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5, respectively. Picking up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 was C.J. Rose (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley), defeating Hobart's Jamie Flanigan. Eau Claire also won all three doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of Lantz and Loprinzi defeated Hobart's Harry King and Charlie Davis 8-2 and the pair of Lars Olson and Fawcett also won by the same score at No. 2 over Cohn and Chin. Rose and Aaron Johnson (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.) were also victorious at No. 3 doubles, defeating Hobart's duo of Flanigan and Will Tucker 8-4. The Blugolds now have four meets left to play in South Carolina. The team will play two more tomorrow, against Nazareth College at 8 a.m. and Greenville College at 1 p.m., and will finish up the trip with one meet on Wednesday and one Thursday.
