CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - As the UW-Eau Claire wrestling squad's lone representative at the NCAA Division III Championships, Josh Holforty (Jr. -Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) took sixth place at the 197-pound weight class today.

The sixth place finish earned Holforty All-American status. He is one of only seven other All-Americans in school history and only the fourth since UW-Eau Claire joined the NCAA.

The day started out in the semifinals after seventh-seeded and seventh-ranked Holftory won his matches 4-2 and 5-2 yesterday. However, today's first match was a 3-0 loss to sixth-seeded and sixth-ranked Matt Miller from Lycoming College (PA).

Holforty was knocked down to the third-place bracket and had to face Rob Kramer of Coe College (IA). Kramer was knocked to the third-place bracket in yesterday's first round when he lost 4-2 to Holforty. This match was a different story, however, as Kramer pinned Holforty in 4:05.

With the pin, Holforty had to fight for fifth against second-seeded and second-ranked Alec Bonander. Holforty had previously knocked the Luther College (IA) wrestler to the lower bracket with a 5-2 win yesterday. Bonander took rematch with a medical forfeit by Holforty.

Third place went to Craig Bollig of UW-Stevens Point, who was ranked and seeded fourth. Kramer took fourth and Ryan Fogliano of Heidelberg College (OH) grabbed seventh while Anthony Neumann from Concordia-Moorhead (MN) placed eighth. Fogliano was seeded and ranked fifth. The champion and runner-up still have to be decided.
