NEW ORLEANS, La. - Three UW-Eau Claire women's cross country athletes were honored today by being named to the NCAA Division III All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Beth Lutz (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial), Hannah Humbach (So.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life Christian) and Amber Hertz (Sr.-Baraboo, Wis.) represented the Blugolds on this year's list.

The award honors student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.

This season at the NCAA Midwest Regional held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on November 10, Lutz led the Blugold runners with a fourth place finish overall. Humbach also finished well at the meet in 24th place, while Hertz took 36th overall. At nationals Lutz also led the Blugolds with a 29th place finish overall, on her way to be named to the season's All-American list. Only 11 other women runners in program history have earned that honor.

A total of 203 Division III female student-athletes received the All-Academic honor, up 15 from last year's total. A total of 15 women's runners from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference were named to the team. Eau Claire, Whitewater and La Crosse each had three recipients, while Platteville had two and Stout, Stevens Point and Oshkosh each received one.
